The heart of the Giver...

main image

The heart of the giver makes the gift precious. Never has this proverb proven more true than in Jesus Christ, "who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen." (Galatians 1:4-5—NIV) Sometimes as we paddle through the troubled waters of life, we wish we could read God's mind. We want to know what He's up to, what His plans for us might be. But Paul's opening words in his letter to the believers in Galatia make it clear that  even when we can't read God's mind, we can know His heart, His heart of love toward us. God loved the world—each of us—so much that that He sent His Son, Jesus, "who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age." Despite ever changing circumstances with unclear and confusing causes, "the will of our God and Father" is and remains unchanged: "to rescue us from the present evil age." To Him "be glory for ever and ever! Amen."
